Here they take a series of, well, dark fairy tales and bring them to life through excellent costume design, surrealistic. While occasionally frustrating, Tale Of Tales is at least never dull, and maintains a baroque visual appeal throughout. As you'd expect from the director of Gomorrah, the effects are mostly practical, and the action primarily set and location-based, so it feels more tactile and palpable than the mainstream's.
