There is a lot of swearing and there is a lot of abuse from both Tonya's. Review: 'I, Tonya.' When the teenage Tonya gets involved with the man she will marry, her life as a punching bag continues. Margot Robbie transforms into disgraced figure skater Tonya Harding in an uneven but often hilarious retelling of her controversial career. Unevenly told and patchily performed, there's still a morbid curiosity that keeps I, Tonya at least diverting. It's brash and shaggy and while Robbie might not quite. So I will try to keep this review spoiler-free. To have these cowardly individuals sensationalised in the movie I found to be really upsetting. I, Tonya moves through most of Harding's life, from her early youth all the way up to the incident with Kerrigan.

I, Tonya is a comedy through and through. While there are some dark moments to be found (mainly surrounding the troubled relationship), the film doesn't spend much time focused on. When I told friends I was seeing Margot Robbie's new Tonya Harding movie at the Toronto International Film Festival this year, I usually got one question back. Margot Robbie gives a delectable performance as Tonya Harding in a biopic that saves her from infamy by being cheeky but real.
