"Zombieland: Double Tap" is more of the same, but also much less. The cast is larger, the carnage is gnarlier and the comedy is even more meta than before. But while individual moments and action sequences might be amusing, the endeavor as a whole feels like a tepid retread.

Zombieland: Double Tap occupies a similar space in the world of sequels. Zombieland Double Tap makes an entertaining comeback. Sticks to its origins with plenty of humour flying around, continues on that wicked zombie killing spree with the old gang reprising their roles.

All four of them brought together by Ruben Flei. Ruben Fleischer's zom-com sequel sustains the original's self-aware brand of irreverent humor while adding a handful of Now, if the premise of the first movie was that this quartet was uniquely suited to survival, "Zombieland: Double Tap" suggests first that far. Much has happened in the ten years since Zombieland came along, severed tongue planted firmly in rotting cheek, and poked relentless, irreverent fun at zombie flicks whilst creating a core quartet of memorable characters and, in Bill Murray's turn, delivering one of the great movie cameos. It wasn't the first movie to wring laughs out of a viral apocalypse.
