Film-Book. et in a forgotten and decadent care home by the sea, 'The Dunes' is a story about finding beauty, releasing strength and discovering hope. Under all the sci-fi names and gizmos and ideas, DUNE is essentially just a war movie. The hero, Paul, is apparently "the chosen one," and thus he never really has to make a choice; his destiny is laid out for him.
A mythic and emotionally charged hero's journey, "Dune" tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding. You have to cram for it. Now, in a far less Star Wars saturated landscape, Dune can be viewed as what it is: a brilliant mistake, misguided from the start but still aesthetically satisfying.
