A Bug's Life: Not Just Art, But Heart. This movie is moving, touching, funny, intriguing, and generally engrossing. The character development in such an ensemble cast is amazing, there's a major amount of character growth, and not just of the main character--so rare in animation.

Despite a number of similarities to Antz, there are enough variations in plot and tone to warrant another visit to the unique. However, A Bug's Life has modernized the story with many new twists and celebrity voices. Here's my review for "A Bug's Life", a somewhat personal movie for me that not many people seem to like.

It would be a shame if families who've already seen ANTZ didn't show up for this technically astounding and unwaveringly bright film -- both visually and philosophically. The Pixar team (who were also behind TOY STORY) has done some knockout work. A Bug's Life is essentially a retelling of the Seven Samurai tale, but done with insects.

A Bug's Life follows the tale of Flick, a clumsy, nerdy ant with an Edison complex: constantly inventing things to make society better, but being ignored as a freak by his colony. Yes, A Bug's Life is set in an ant colony too, although this is by far a more appealing ant colony than the one portrayed in Antz. like most other movies, when A Bug's Life made the journey from the big. screen to the game console, it lost most of its magic along the way.
