Parents need to know that Gremlins has many scary scenes, including a mom chopping up a Gremlin with a kitchen knife, a Gremlin-in-blender, and indelible Gremlin-in-microwave scenes. Also, a heads' up: Even though this movie isn't. "Gremlins" is a confrontation between Norman Rockwell's vision of Christmas and Hollywood's vision of the blood-sucking monkeys of voodoo island. On the one hand, you have an idyllic American small town, with Burger Kings and Sears stores clustered merrily around the village square, and on the other hand you have a plague of reprehensible little beasties who behave like a rodent road.
I haven't seen Gremlins since I was a kid and was worried about if it would be too scary for my kids to watch. After watching it, I'm sure they are a bit too young for it, and it wasn't nearly as good as I remembered. Billy gets Gizmo as a gift from his father, who somewhat steals it from its actual owner.
The story follows a young man who receives a strange creature called a mogwai as a pet, which then spawns other creatures who transform into small, destructive, evil monsters. It draws on legends of folkloric mischievous creatures that caused malfunctions — "gremlins" — in the British Royal. Basically, a guy called Billy Peltzer picks up a new pet called Gizmo and after breaking a few rules he shouldn't have, ends up spawning a bunch of ugly creatures called Gremlins who proceed to terrorize the town. Warner Home Video brings Joe Dante's Gremlins to Ultra HD Blu-ray as a two-disc combo pack with a flyer for a Digital Copy. The way the Gremlins were used throughout was freaking hilarious. If the sequel is similar to this in the way Gremlins are used, I'm in.
