"Tim Burton's Corpse Bride" is not the macabre horror story the title suggests, but a sweet and visually lovely tale of love lost. In an era when most animated films look relentlessly bright and colorful, "Corpse Bride" creates two palettes, and not the ones we expect. Parents need to know that this movie includes multiple references to dead bodies, skeletons, decay, and death, though all in good fun.
Tim Burton's Corpse Bride Critics Consensus. As can be expected from a Tim Burton movie, Corpse Bride is whimsically macabre, visually imaginative, and emotionally bittersweet. Note: I suppose the official title of the movie is Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, presumably to distinguish it from William Shakepeare's Corpse Bride or Jane Austen's Corpse Bride.
The wordiness seems silly so, for the purposes of this review, the film will be referred to simply as Corpse Bride. When it comes to animation these days, it's all digital. In a gloomy, gray, Victorian-era village, young Victor and Victoria meet for the first time on the eve of their arranged wedding. The shy, sensitive bride and groom are just delighted to discover they could actually care for each other. Corpse Bride is a beautiful, moving story of three people (one dead) doing their best to find and give comfort to each other, and alongside the sadness (and the considerable fun—there is a lot of humor throughout the movie) is a lovingly detailed fable of the gentle yet tremendous power of innocent kindness given to those in need of connection. Directed by Tim Burton, Mike Johnson.
Trailer Corpse Bride
With Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Emily Watson, Tracey Ullman. So, tonight I finally get to watch this movie. But, will it live up to the praise?
In conclusion, Corpse Bride is a genuine Tim Burton experience with an interesting concept, resourceful visuals, well-done stop motion animation, noteworthy characters and nicely executed songs. MRQE Metric: See what the critics had to say and watch the trailer. Overall, this movie is enjoyable, but it suffers from mediocre musical numbers. Parts of the plot are so tragic and morbid.
