Rio will not set your heart afire, although its low-level consciousness raising about illegally smuggled animals is nice. Rio is a computer-animated story about the last two blue macaws on Earth. The movie takes us into the story of Blu, a male who is taken to Rio to mate with a female.

Rio sucks you in from the opening moments. You don't have to have been to Rio to appreciate the impeccable work of the animation. Other than, say, an ostrich, a penguin, a chicken or a "sitting duck," what do When Tulio, a Brazilian ornithologist, takes Blu back to Rio de Janeiro to mate with the last blue macaw.
