The increased gore and violence over the first Alien vs. Predator can't excuse Requiem's disorientating editing, excessively murky lighting. Aliens VS Predator - Requiem is the second film in the over hyped and under performing crossover series, which brings nothing new to the table while tarnishing the franchises' original films.
The violence is constant and unrelenting. While there are the expected scenes of the aliens and predator boring through chests, attacking faces, and impaling any and all victims (with plenty of blood and gore in each attack), that's only the beginning. Predator: Requiem is not one of these. It's not so bad it's good. Stunningly haphazard dialogue peppers the script, including such morsels as Sheriff Morales' observation about the alien vs. predator scrimmage: "This kind of thing doesn't happen here." Right.
