Core of the World is like that. It's so true to life that it ends up a complete dud. Superbly acted by a cast that also intrepidly deals at close quarters with some unpredictable animal life, Core of the World can be read as a parable about the fragility of human empathy under pressure.
In Core of the World we meet the timid Egor. He is a loner on the fringe of society who feels more comfortable in the company of animals than humans. When he gets a job with a family of hunting dog breeders, a feeling of or a wish for belonging awakens in him, and perhaps even a possibility of love.
